Holiday Goals and Wish

Sorry I’ve been absent for the past few days. As you all know it’s THAT time of year. Shopping, cooking (LOTS of cooking), wrapping, cleaning, I could go on and on.  I’m not journaling, I’ve been trying to get to the gym here and there but even that isn’t happening as much as I would like. I decided to declare my holiday goals because I feel like if I don’t things may get out of hand.

I have 3 Holiday Weight Watchen’ Goals

  1. Enjoy myself and RELAX – I’ve been trying to accomplish a lot lately, a new business, a full time job, running 2 active blogs and the weight loss community. I’m using the next few days to enjoy time with my family. The last two days have been great and I can’t wait to see the rest of my extended family and freinds.
  2. Mindful eating – I’m not going to journal every bite but I’m not going to eat everything in sight either. I’m going to make the best choices I can and not STRESS over it.  I cannot gain 70lbs back in the next few days. Yes the scale may be up but I know what I need to do when “normalcy” returns.
  3. Drink Water – I tend to drink not as much when I’m home. Weird I know but it’s back to that out of routine problem I have.

The past two days have been a TON of FUN and I’ve been trying to keep these three things in mind.

I’ve also been staying active, dancing with the toddler to fun Holiday tunes.  One of our favorites is Christmas Wrapping. The song is 5 minutes long so with a toddler who routinely says “Again, again, AGAIN!” I can easily get 15-20 minutes of aerobic dancing in.  Not to mention resistance training because the little guy is about 40 pounds and is quite a dare devil.  He LOVES for me to swing him around, upside down and all so mom get’s quite an upper body workout!

Ryan with the cookiesBetween dancing sets, I’m running back in forth to the kitchen.  The toddler and I have been baking cookies and he is LOVING the decorating, the eating and the "licking".

Tonight is a big night for our family as we travel for Christmas Eve and Christmas. We celebrate what we call, Christmas Eve Eve.  It’s the day the toddler, the husband and I have our special family dinner.  I’m making, homemade French onion soup, shrimp cocktail,  Maryland-ish Crab Cakes, Garlic Honey Asparagus, and strawberries with Chocolate Yogurt Dipping Sauce! Plus I picked up up a buttercup squash.  It look so interesting and I’ve never seen one before so I thought, why not! Keep an eye out on GreenLiteBites as I’ll be posting about it and my onion soup soon.

So I need to get back to my Christmas Eve Eve cooking.  I just wanted to take a minute to wish you ALL a Happy Holiday Season how ever you may celebrate it.

I’ll be back in the middle of next week with some updates.  (if you haven’t noticed I’ve been doing little things here and there like adding the RSS feed from the community in the lower left side bar – I have a lot of year end loose ends to tie up)

Have a good one!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. What a great tradition to have with just your husband and son. I may have to adopt that one day when we have a family.
Safe travels and enjoy spending time with friends and family. Can't wait to see the new additions to GreenBites!

I also have a hard time drinking enough water when I'm home. I have a system that works great for me at work, but I never seem to drink much at home. So this New Years, I want to read Dr. Dean Ornish's new book the "Spectrum". He provides you tools to customize a way of eating, managing stress, and exercising that is based on your own desires, needs, and genetic predispositions. Hopefully this will help me figure out what's best for me and how to work it into my routine... Here's a link to an interesting discussion about it: http://www.wellsphere.com/viewGroup.s?id=110918
