And I Ran...
...I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day…
Ok, sorry. That was stuck in my head all night. The reason you ask? Well, you guessed it, I RAN! Not only did I run but I did it outside in my hilly community. I’m not quite sure how far. I’m estimating about 2.5 miles but I never stopped to walk, not once! I held a nice steady jog pace. I think I started out too fast at first and then I slowed down and took my time. Based on my new iPod mix (see below) I ran for about 33 minutes. Not to shabby for this recent exercise convert and running newbie! ;~P
On the food front, I’m not as proud of myself. Ever since this weekend, I’m having a hard time shaking off the munchies. I swear when I eat more refined carbs and sugar (what I ate all weekend) fending off cravings is really tough for the next few days. I truly believe our diets really affect the way our bodies run and react which affects what we crave. I caved into some of those cravings today but I’ll be right back on track tomorrow. Especially because I’m totally prepared with a kitchen full of produce and a fridge full of leftovers for lunches. I made an experimental casserole today and I still have tons of watermelon leftover from last week.
So here’s the new running mix. Be warned some of these selections are explicit, but boy did it keep me going. And my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song got me sprinting for the last 1-2 minutes of the run! Hope you find it useful. :~)

Oh goodness, now I'm going to have crazy stuck in my head.
Watch this video and join me!
the beastie boys? girl, you crazy.
CHEERING FOR YOU AT THE CRACK OF DAWN HERE IN TEXAS!!
about the food? Im one hundred percent the same way.
entirely.
sugar makes me crazy and, well, begets more sugars which makes me MORE CRAZY.
(for me the I WANT MORE can be triggered by fruit sugars too..so I need to remember that)
email should you wanna chat,
M.
I feel the SAME WAY about sugar! I have to eliminate it from my diet or I crave terrible things! Once it's not in my system, I don't want it, crave it or need it - AND I lose faster. The pounds fall of of me when I don't have sugar in my system - go figure!
So glad to see your playlist! I have been looking for some new songs to run to!
You are such an inspiraton!
Congrats on the run!! And might I say you have a very wide taste in music. I love it!
That is awesome!! Especially since i just posted a "Couch to 5K" challenge...starting this week..for all of us new to running. It is a gradual routine to get you running a steady 30 minutes, which you did! good job!!
its truly addicting , enjoy the running!!!
I've been the same way since Friday. So I woke up Saturday thinking "ok back on track" but sadly no...I started out great but then the night munchies hit. Then yesterday I thought, "ok back on track"...no again. So today it is! The thing I really hate about it is that I am 6.8 lbs away from WW goal. What's wrong with me?
I'm going to give you a stern warning now. Running becomes seriously addictive! I had to really stop myself from running 7 days in a row!

Congrats on the long run. That is great.
Love your mix too:)
Smashing Pumpkins rule!! Galapogos is my fav song on that brilliant album. Congrats on the run- Wish it was nicer here in MI so I could take DS for a walk :)
Too funny! I'm a runner too and "Keep The Car Running" by Arcade Fire is always on my Nike iPod. :) It's the best running song.
Keep going! it's addictive!
Wow Roni--this post connected with me on so many different levels!
I started with the Couch to 5K running program awhile ago. I made it to week 5, was running consistently, three days a week, and was loving it! It WAS addictive and I loved what it was doing to my body. I was eating well on the WW flex plan and I felt great!
Then, several weeks ago, I developed a pain in my hip and had to stop running. I was depressed about it and felt like, if I can't run, what's the point of eating right either... Started eating sweets, which I had been able to pass by for over a year, then started craving sweets, now, for the past three weeks, have been gorging on every sweet I can get my hands on!
My hip pain is much better and my chiropractor has given me the go ahead to try running again, but I just haven't been motivated to get myself back in gear.
I feel crappy, I feel like I'm starting to look crappy, and I'm still eating everything in sight--I'm just not sure quite how to break out of this slump! Maybe reading your post and writing this comment will get me back on the straight and narrow!
Congratulations on your fitness accomplishments. You should be so proud of yourself! You are great motivation to the rest of us!
Sandy
Totally agree here as well. I overdid it on the cadbury mini eggs that I can't seem to get rid of from Easter. Ugh! :)
Have a great day!
Michelle
I totally understand about the sugar thing - especially if I eat a processed carb kind of thing - even cereal, can make me crave more later in the day.
My running mix is definitely not suitable for some people, but I have to say "Sex on Wheelz" makes you run fast, too!
Hey Ronnie,
I saw your comment about not knowing how far you'd gone and thought you might benefit from the Nike + chip that can be used with iPod.
It's the neatest thing I've found as far as running accessories go. It basically plugs into the bottom of your iPod, where you would charge it and then a chip goes in your shoe (if you have Nike + shoes), or in a small clear container attached to your laces (if you don't have Nike running shoes).
The cost is less than $30 and it transmits a signal from your shoe, to your iPod, telling you how far you've gone, how many calories you've burned, how long your workout was, etc. It also keeps track of your last 2,000 workouts, and you can hook it up to the computer and chart your results!
If you look up Nike Plus iPod online, you'll find what I'm talking about!
Keep up the good work.
There's nothing better than the feeling you get when you have an amazing run with amazing tunes--especially if you're not an expert runner. I love it when that happens!
That's great that you also have "Crazy" on your playlist - I have it as well, but I usually use it specifically for warm-down. Otherwise, it just doesn't mesh too well with my pace. But I still love it!
